Last Thursday, Sparks and I got to participate in what has been (by FAR) the most exciting wedding planning activity yet. After months of planning, imagining, and decision making, we finally got to see our table and centerpiece mock-ups.
As you might remember, Sparks and I weren’t too big on flowers. We like flowers, we just wanted to go in a more unique direction for our décor. So we eventually decided to use just 2 types of flowers for the reception:
”¦oh wait:
Please don’t ruin the awesome surprises we have in store for you!
Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, right! The flowers. Here are the two beauties we decided to go with:

Mokara Orchids

The mokara orchids are a little pricey, so we’ll be using them sparingly. But I think they make such a powerful statement, we won’t really need too many of them!
For the “unique” aspect of our centerpieces, we decided to go for black-lacquered vases, tall candelabras, and quirky design elements. Lastly, we wanted bold linens. I could show you some more random pics, or I guess I could stop stalling and show you the real deal! I’ve held out on you for long enough. Here’s the final result:
Ok, so those chairs in the last picture are”¦ up in the air. They are a teeny bit (ok, a LOT) out of our price range. But they are so pretty! I wish we could have them. Oh well, I think everything else came out just perfectly! It’s simple, yet unique. Understated, but still bold enough.
What do you all think? Is it too loud? Too different? I’m feeling pretty excited about it!
