An Exciting Purchase

This past weekend was a big one for the Sparklers (though it seems like, lately, ALL of our weekends are pretty big). We hit the official 2-months-to-go mark, and we made it (almost) official with a big purchase:

Our wedding bands!

FYI: That “1900”³ scribble in the background is NOT the price of our rings. No, no.

Much like Mrs. Trail Mix and Mrs. Panther, I decided to go with a rose gold band. Even though my engagement ring is white gold, I love the contrast and subtle difference of the two metals. Plus, I’ll be wearing my wedding band on its own a lot, and I love how rose gold looks with my skin tone.

Now, while I knew exactly what I wanted, Sparks needed a little more time to make a decision. We spent the majority of our first trip to the jeweler looking at wedding bands for him. Sparks and I searched through trays and trays of rings looking for something modern yet classic, different yet traditional, thin but not too thin”¦ you get the picture. Finally, we came across this guy:

It’s tough to see it in the photos, but the top of the ring is brushed metal”¦ giving it just a touch of uniqueness. I could tell it was the one as soon as Sparks put it on. His whole face lit up. It was pretty cute.

Of course, I couldn’t let him have all the fun. I had a mini-fashion show in the corner while Sparks finalized all the details:

I sent my Mom that last picture after we wrapped up at the jeweler, and she said seeing our rings together finally made it real for her. And I have to agree. With only two months to go, a dress hanging in my closet, and rings coming in the mail, this thing just got REALLY real. Eeep.

Have you purchased your bands yet? Did it make everything seem official?
